The Importance of Operational Agility

Improving Flexibility and Scalability

Automatically Scale in Response to Changing Demand

Operational agility is about evolving to an IT infrastructure that is leaner and more efficient. This involves adopting “Three Cs” principles: convergence, composability, and cloud-native, which improve cost structures and enable rapid and cost-effective scaling of services.

MATRIXX is specially engineered to reflect the “Three Cs.” The platform unifies online and offline charging across all network types and services, emphasizes extensible and reusable microservices, is proven across all public and private cloud providers and utilizes modern cloud technologies such as Kubernetes. This approach not only streamlines operations but also facilitates continuous integration and deployment.

Vertical vs. Horizontal Scaling

Complex infrastructure must scale in both directions to maximize agility.

Scale Vertically

Vertical scaling means adding more computing power to a single machine. It typically requires the virtualization of resources so that they can be applied dynamically in response to demand.

Benefits include:
  • Simpler architecture, less complicated to maintain
  • Lower server costs
  • Fewer data consistency issues

Scale Horizontally

Horizontal scaling means distributing software across additional (virtual) machines. It requires logic that can be broken down into smaller pieces, called micro-services, so that they can be executed across the servers.

Benefits include:
  • Easy to add or change code
  • Built-in redundancy
  • Distribute geographically or across data centers

A Unique Ability to Automate, Orchestrate, Manage and Monitor Your Business

MATRIXX has invested in multi-cloud with all the leading cloud platforms — to give you choice and control in how you deploy our solution. We are proven across public, private and hybrid cloud deployments and can work with you on recommendations for cloud native operational processes.

MATRIXX Supported Cloud Platforms

Operational Agility in Action

A joint solution between MATRIXX and Amazon Web Services using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) and AWS Outposts is currently being deployed at a multinational carrier. AWS Outposts is a fully managed solution delivering AWS infrastructure and services to virtually any on-premises or edge location.

By running MATRIXX on AWS Outposts, the carrier gains an industry-leading monetization solution with true operational agility, delivering the cost savings and scalability of public cloud as well as the privacy and performance of on-premises deployments.
