Launching solutions ranging from implementation consulting to operational support for MVNOs starting in November
TOKYO, December 7, 2023 – NextGen Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director, Executive Officer, President: Shinji Onishi), has partnered with MATRIXX Software, a global leader in 5G and digital monetization solutions (Headquarters: California, U.S.A.), to offer a solution that integrates all billing into one platform beginning November 2023.
This solution has already been launched for a major telecommunications and information company in Japan and is currently in operation. Based on the implementation know-how and technical knowledge gained through that deployment, NextGen has developed a solution that comprehensively supports mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) business operations, including implementation consulting. The company plans to continue to expand this offering.
Background of the Solution
Japan is one of the most competitive mobile markets, with the number of mobile phone subscriptions reaching 210.63 million as of the end of March 2023 — nearly twice the population. At the same time, the share of 5G network subscriptions is rapidly expanding. Although the number of MVNO[1] operators is on the rise, the current situation is that small-scale operators still perform core operations such as billing and SIM management manually.
In addition, domestic mobile network operators (MNOs) that provide mobile lines to MVNOs deliver services using a network technology called 5G Standalone (5G SA), but this is not standardized for MVNOs, so many businesses are hesitant to invest in MVNO operations for 5G.
MATRIXX is developing a digital monetization solution with advanced and real-time customer billing functionality. NextGen will provide a web user interface that incorporates this solution and is tailored to the usage scenarios of Japanese carriers. This solution, which integrates NextGen’s business support systems (OSS/BSS) and SIM management systems (SLMS), can be implemented regardless of network technology and will address comprehensive MVNO operations including implementation consulting.
